Ashton Agar says Scotland's boilover win over England has given the team a huge boost ahead of Wednesday night's ODI series opener.
The world's No.1-ranked side lost by six runs in an enthralling contest in Edinburgh as the Scots successfully defended their whopping total of 371 to record their first ever win over England.
"It was good for us that England lost that game, good for Scotland as a cricketing nation and a country," Agar said.
"You could see how much it meant to them; it was good to watch.
"It's good that England lost because you always like to start off with a win."
England's bowling struggled without all-rounders Ben Stokes and Chris Woakes against Scotland, with the pair to also miss the first match against Australia.
Despite their defeat, and a poor bowling display from Eoin Morgan's side, Agar remains wary about the threat of a team who won the series in Australia 4-1 earlier this year.
"They are a couple of strong all-round players that we are not unhappy not to be seeing," he said of Stokes and Woakes.
"But although they didn't get the job done, they are a really dangerous side and you can't ever take a side like that lightly and we have to be on our A-game."
Australia haven't surpassed 290 in their two warm-up matches against county sides Sussex and Middlesex and the middle order has failed to fire with Glenn Maxwell horribly out of form.
The Victorian has been dismissed for one and three in his two visits to the crease on the tour but Agar is confident the batsmen will click when it matters.
"It's been good to spend some quality time out in the middle and try and solidify a game plan," he said.
"We've seen Travis Head and Marcus Stoinis both get hundreds and if we are getting hundreds then hopefully we are winning games."
The match starts at 2200 AEST.
