Australian duo Anna Meares and Kaarle McCulloch defended their team sprint title in the final against Britain at the world track cycling championships Thursday.
British duo Victoria Pendleton and Jessica Varnish finished second to take the silver with China stunning France in the third-place match to take the bronze.
Meares and McCulloch clocked the fastest time in qualifying in 33.342sec, with Pendleton and JVarnish finishing second in 33.356.

And the Aussie pair, looking to make it three in a row in this Olympic event, made no mistake in the final, McCulloch coming good after two laps after Meares had handed her a 0.4sec first lap lead over Britain.
In the match for bronze French pair Sandie Clair and Clara Sanchez held a 0.1sec lead on China after the first lap. However, they were stunned at the finish as China came home to claim the bronze.
The women's team sprint, which is held with two riders and over two laps as opposed to three and three for the men, will make its Olympic debut in London next year.
