Australia's cricketers are on guard against England and complacency, batsman Peter Handscomb says.

Handscomb says Australia have rapidly moved on from their 10-wicket thumping of the Poms in the Ashes opener.

"We have had a good game in Brisbane but that's gone now," he said.

The homeside could take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series with another victory in the day-night Adelaide Test starting Saturday.

"We are not looking too far ahead," Handscomb said.

"We understand if we come out and play the game we want to, control our controllables, we come away with a 2-0 lead here ... which will be amazing.

"I suppose complacency can set in but that's something we are obviously going to not try and do.

" ... It's completely different conditions as well, being a day-night Test, pink ball.

"But we have got to make sure we do things right by our own team and play our own game."

Handscomb said Australia were paying scant attention to England's off-field concerns revolving around Jonny Bairstow and the absent Ben Stokes.

"We are not too worried about Stokes and Bairstow," he said.

"Coming into this (Test), we understand a 2-0 lead in a five-Test series is huge."

Australia is likely to name an unchanged side for the Adelaide Test, with South Australian Chadd Sayers expecting to again be 12th man.

"It does get a bit frustrating, you keep putting performances on the board and you haven't played a Test match," Sayers said of being so close to a Test debut.

"I'm excited to be involved in my first Ashes series and be around the Australian team but I guess mixing cordial isn't what I want to do."
