Aussies snubbed by ICC U-19 selectors

Australia's efforts to make the final of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup has gone unrewarded by ICC selectors, with no players named in an all-stars team.

Australia's under-19 cricketers have been snubbed by ICC selectors just a day after they lost World Cup final to India.

Australia easily qualified for the tournament's final before they went down to India by eight wickets in New Zealand on Saturday, but didn't feature in the team of the tournament.

Not included were the likes of Australian legspinner Lloyd Pope, who took eight wickets in the quarter-final against England, or captain Jason Sangha, who topped the country's run-scoring list.

Instead, the panel of Tom Moody, Ian Bishop, Anjum Chopra, Jeff Crowe and Shashank Kishore named five Indians in their 12-man squad, which featured players from six nations.

South African Raynard van Tonder was named to captain the all-stars side after he finished the tournament with two centuries, while India's top three of Prithvi Shaw, Manjot Kalra and Shubman Gill.

The selections rammed home India's dominance during the tournament, which was highlighted by the fact Saturday's victory was the first match they hadn't won by at least 100 runs or 10 wickets.

ICC TEAM OF THE TOURNAMENT:

Prithvi Shaw (India), Manjot Kalra (India), Shubman Gill (India), Finn Allen (New Zealand), Raynard van Tonder (South Africa, capt), Wandile Makwetu (South Africa), Anukul Roy (India), Kamlesh Nagarkoti (India), Gerald Coetzee (South Africa), Qais Ahmad (Afghanistan, Shaheen Afridi (Pakistan), Alick Athanaze (Windies, 12th man).
