Aust among the best for beating cancer

An international study has found that Australia ranks among the top countries in the world when it comes to cancer survival rates.

Australia has cemented its place among the top countries in the world for cancer survival rates.

An international study has found that Australia ranks second behind the United States for breast cancer and rectal cancer five-year survival rates, and is in the top three for colon cancer.

However, despite having one of the highest rates of melanoma in the world, Australia ranks 11th in terms of countries with the best survival rates for the disease.

Overall, the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden have the highest five-year survival rates for most cancers, according to the study published in The Lancet on Wednesday.
