Aust batting star Chris Lynn hurt in IPL

Australian batsman Chris Lynn has injured his troublesome left shoulder again, playing in the Indian Premier League.

Australian T20 master blaster Chris Lynn is to undergo assessment on Monday after injuring his problematic left shoulder while playing in the Indian Premier League.

Lynn was playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders against the Mumbai Indians in his second match of the IPL on Sunday when he was injured while fielding.

Lynn has a history of shoulder issues and his Big Bash League team Brisbane Heat are monitoring the latest injury closely.

Heat and Queensland Bulls strength and conditioning coach Paul Chapman was at the match in his role with Mumbai.

"We'll stay in close contact through this initial process as we get an idea of what the extent of the injury is and what the options are for him," Brisbane Heat general manager Andrew McShea said.

"It's unfortunate for Chris to sustain another injury to the shoulder that has troubled him in the past.

"It's not the sort of birthday you would wish for, and the best wishes of the club and our fans go out to him."

Lynn was the BBL player of the year for the second season in a row in 2016-17 as well as making his Australian ODI debut during the season.

The 27-year-old started the IPL with a bang, hitting 93 not out from 41 balls in the Knight Riders' opening win of the season, and producing 32 off 24 balls against Mumbai.
