Aust director, screenwriter honoured in LA

Disney executives Mary Ann Hughes and Paul Steinke will be honoured for bringing major films to Australia.

Australian director Kate Dennis, screenwriter Luke Davies and two Disney executives who were crucial in choosing Australia as the shoot location for the latest Pirates of the Caribbean and Thor films will be honoured in Los Angeles.

Australians in Film, an LA-based non-profit organisation that helps Australians in Hollywood, on Tuesday revealed the honourees for its annual awards night.

Dennis is the Emmy-nominated director of the acclaimed TV series The Handmaid's Tale and Davies received an Oscar nomination this year for the Nicole Kidman-starring Lion.

Disney executives Mary Ann Hughes and Paul Steinke will be honoured with the Ausfilm International Award for their significant contribution to the Australian film industry.

The sixth annual AiF Awards and benefit dinner will be held on October 18 at the Neuehouse Hollywood on Sunset Boulevard.
