Aust doesn't support use of torture: PM

Following US President Donald Trump's remarks supporting the use of torture, Malcolm Turnbull says Australia upholds its international obligations.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has reaffirmed Australia's opposition to the use of torture.

It follows remarks by US President Donald Trump that the US has to "fight fire with fire" in the war against terrorism, and that torture "absolutely" works.

"Australia abides by all of its international obligations in respect of torture and we do not practise or countenance torture," Mr Turnbull told Neil Mitchell on 3AW radio.
