Counter-terrorism raids across Australia have seen 23 people charged in recent months.

Since the terror threat level was raised to high in September, police have carried out eight terrorism operations.

Attorney-General George Brandis has revealed the figures on Monday while updating the Senate on the foiling of an alleged Mother's Day terror plot planned by a Melbourne teen.
