The Canadian agency investigating the whale-watching boat tragedy that left one Australian and five British sightseers dead will soon release its long-awaited final report.

Sydney electrician Raveshan Pillay, 27, was holidaying in Canada with his British girlfriend Danielle Hooker and her father Nigel on October 25, 2015 when they boarded the 20m long Leviathan II with 24 other passengers and crew.

Survivors described how passengers were viewing sea lions on rocks off the west coast of Vancouver Island when a wave struck the vessel and it capsized.

All 27 aboard were thrown into frigid waters.

Mr Pillay and Mr Hooker were among the dead, while Ms Hooker survived.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada announced on Wednesday it will release its final investigation report on June 14.
