Australia are set to play their upcoming Davis Cup quarter-final against the United States at Brisbane's Pat Rafter Arena.

Tennis Australia and the Queensland government are expected to make the announcement for the April 7-9 tie at the Queensland Tennis Centre on Thursday afternoon.

It would be Brisbane's biggest Davis Cup clash since it played host to the 1999 final when Australia triumphed over Russia on a makeshift grass court at QEII Stadium.

The last time the USA played in Brisbane was in 1986 when a Pat Cash-led Australia won a semi-final at Milton on their way to defeating Sweden in the final at Kooyong.

Lleyton Hewitt's Australians beat the Czech Republic 4-1 in this year's opening round in Melbourne while the Americans whitewashed Switzerland 5-0 at home.
