Aust v NZ in Asia Pacific bowls finals

In a trans-Tasman showdown for gold, Australia and New Zealand will compete in men's singles and fours finals at the Asia Pacific bowls in Christchurch.

Australia and New Zealand will compete in men's singles and men's fours finals at the Asia Pacific bowls championship in Christchurch.

Mike Kernaghann defeated Japan's Kenta Hasebe 21-13 in a semi-final on Thursday to set up a trans-Tasman showdown for gold on Saturday with Australian Aron Sherriff.

Sherriff reached the decider with a 21-19 win over Malaysia's Muhammad Hizlee Abdhul Rais.

The men's fours final on Sunday will also be a trans-Tasman affair.

The New Zealand quartet of Mike Nagy, Andrew Kelly, Shannon McIlroy and Paul Girdler claimed their berth by beating Malaysia 20-11, while Australia downed Hong Kong 16-10.
