The victory at Auckland's Eden Park gives Australia a three-one lead in the five-match series and means the tourists retain the Chappell Hadlee Trophy ahead of game five in Wellington on Saturday.
Chasing 200 to win off 34 overs in a rain-interrupted match, Australia scored 4-202 with 17 balls to spare.

Man-of-the-match White's 50 came from 57 deliveries with five fours and one six and is a consolation prize for the Victorian captain who has missed out on selection in the 14-man Test squad for the two-match series later this month.
"It's the first one I've won I think. I've been involved in a couple of losing series over here so it's very nice to win this, it's a very nice feeling," White said.
"I just try to play as straight as I can and it seems to be working at the moment."
Shane Watson (32) and Ricky Ponting, who hit 50 from 35 balls, shared an 82-run partnership for the second wicket after Brad Haddin fell to Shane Bond for a duck.

But spinner Daniel Vettori (2-29) trapped Watson and Ponting lbw as Australia lost 2-1 in 12 deliveries to bring the crowd of 11,265 to their feet.
Adam Voges looked all at sea against Vettori and managed 34 before he was caught at mid-wicket off James Franklin's bowling at 4-150.
An unbroken 52-run partnership between Mike Hussey (28 not out off 17 balls) and White steered Australia through some fine bowling from Bond and Vettori to a comfortable victory.
Spinner Nathan Hauritz (3-46) led a strong all-round performance from Australia's bowling attack to dismiss New Zealand for 238.
Ponting later paid tribute to Hauritz and White.
"Whitey has been terrific for us in finishing games off," the skipper said. "He showed his maturity I thought and played as the game required."
Breakthrough by Watson
Shane Watson, James Hopes and the in-form Mitchell Johnson claimed two wickets each to keep the pressure on the Black Caps who were bowled out in 44.1 overs.
Brendon McCullum had breezed to 61 from 75 balls with three fours and four sixes before clipping a catch to mid-wicket at 4-130 and tailender Daryl Tuffey was the next-highest scorer with a career-best 34 from 17 balls.
Invited to bat first by Ricky Ponting who won his fourth toss of the series, the Kiwis began with Martin Guptill hitting 30 in a brisk 63-run stand with McCullum.
Watson made the initial breakthrough when Guptill was caught at short cover in the eighth over.
The Black Caps had been 1-120 but lost 3-10 including a double strike from Hauritz. The off-spinner removed debutant Shanan Stewart (4) and McCullum in successive overs.
Medium-pacer Hopes chipped in with the important wickets of Ross Taylor (15) and Scott Styris (8) who was caught and bowled at 5-152.
