Campers on southeast Queensland islands won't be able to boil a billy on Australia Day after authorities imposed a total fire ban over the long weekend.
The ban on open fires - including campfires - will be in place on Bribie Island, Moreton Island and North and South Stradbroke islands for four days from Friday.
Rural Fire Service (RFS) Brisbane Regional Manager Wayne Waltisbuhl said the ongoing hot and dry conditions forced the organisation to make the decision to protect people from bushfire risk.
