Australia have finished top of Pool C to reach the Singapore Sevens quarter-finals, after three wins from as many games on Saturday.

After a 19-12 victory over Samoa to kick off their day at the National Stadium in Singapore, Australia defeated Kenya 29-7 and Argentina 19-7.

Australia will play South Africa, who finished second in Pool B, on Sunday for a spot in the semi-finals.

"I was really, really pleased with the boys today," Australia coach Andy Friend said.

Simon Kennewell (two) and Lachie Anderson got the tries for Australia in the win over Samoa.

"The first game was all about defence and I thought we defended really, really well," Friend said.

Henry Hutchison bagged three tries in Australia's victory over Kenya, while John Porch and Liam McNamara chipped in with a try each.

"In the second game, that was some of the best attacking rugby I've seen us play," Friend said.

"And that was against a Kenyan side who's been up for it all week as the defending champions."

Hutchison and Kennewell crossed again while Charlie Taylor added his name to Australia's try scorers in the success against Argentina.

"The last game was all about guts and determination," Friend said.

The day was not without casualty, however, with Australian skipper Tom Lucas to be monitored overnight while experienced duo James Stannard (nose) and Ed Jenkins (shoulder) won't play any part on day two.
