Great Britain have proven too good for defending champions Australia in the final of the Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia, winning 4-3 after taking a 2-1 lead into the second half.
Alan Forsyth was first on the board for Great Britain when he opened the scoring in the eighth minute. David Goodfield added a second three minutes later before the Kookaburras wrapped up the first quarter with several penalty corner opportunities they were unable to convert.
Eddie Ockenden finally pulled one back for Australia after two more unsuccessful penalty corner attempts to go into halftime one goal down.
Just minutes after the break both sides had scored again; Great Britain through Ollie Willars and the Kookaburras one minute later thanks to Josh Pollard.
Goodfield combined with Forsyth for his second to to give the British a two-goal lead with 15 minutes to play.
Dylan Wotherspoon ensured a frantic final quarter when he scored in the 48th minute but neither side were able to convert subsequent opportunities.
"Again we were able to control large parts of the game and generate good opportunity," Kookaburras head coach Colin Batch said.
"We scored three goals which is normally enough to win, not tonight however as our defence of the circle needs improving as do our penalty corner attempts.
"Great Britain were very successful from limited opportunity - we have to look at that and prevent it from happening. They were quick to generate counter attacks and also scored very quickly."
