Australia gives cash to fight TB, malaria

Australia has ramped up its financial pledge to a special global fund combating AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop announced an additional $220 million at a meeting in Montreal, saying it represented a 10 per cent increase on the last contribution.

Fighting multi-drug resistant tuberculosis in Asia and Papua New Guinea as well as malaria in the greater Mekong region are particular priorities for Australia's aid program.
