Donald Trump is bringing Australia closer to nuclear conflict over North Korea, the Greens have warned.

Party leader Richard Di Natale says he expects the content of a planned phone call between the US president and Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull on Wednesday morning to be leaked to the public.

"(Donald Trump's) taking us to the brink and Australia's right behind him as chief cheerleader. That's in no one's interest," he said in Canberra on Tuesday.
