Australia have forced ice hockey's Trans-Tasman Challenge into a decider by beating New Zealand 2-0 in game two at the Winter Games in Queenstown.
The Mighty Roos opened the scoring in the first period when the Ice Blacks were penalised for tripping, with Per Daniel Goransson finishing from the ensuing power play.
After a scoreless second period, Australia's Tommy Powell made the result certain with an open-net goal after the world No.38 hosts pulled their goalkeeper in a last ditch effort to save game.
Friday's result redeems 33rd-ranked Australia, who have lost only twice in 30 years to New Zealand, after their 4-1 defeat in the opening game on Thursday.
The series' final game will be played on Saturday evening.
