Australian prosecutors will use counter-terrorism intelligence gathered by other countries in their case against a Melbourne nurse accused of working with Islamic State in Syria.
Father-of-five Adam Matthew Brookman has been charged with two terrorism-related offences, including one count of knowingly providing support to IS by undertaking guard duty and reconnaissance in Syria.
He has been in custody since he returned to Australia last July, and on Monday appeared before the Melbourne Magistrates Court via video link.
The court heard the federal attorney-general is expected to seek assistance from Norway as part of the prosecution's case against Brookman.
The 40-year-old was arrested by Australian Federal Police at Sydney Airport last year, and extradited to Victoria.
He was repatriated to Australia after he turned himself in to Turkish authorities.
Brookman's return was negotiated between the AFP, Victoria Police, other Commonwealth partners and international authorities.
It is alleged the support he provided to IS would help "prepare or foster" a terrorist act.
A US witness, whose identity has been suppressed, is expected to fly to Melbourne to give evidence about Brookman.
At a previous hearing, the court heard the American had communicated with Brookman between November 2013 and May 2015.
Information gathered by the FBI and from social media is also expected to form part of the case against Brookman.
He will remain in custody and return to court in August.
