Foreign Minister Bob Carr said the government had agreed to send staff to the National Referral Hospital in Honiara and provincial hospitals, following a request from the Solomon Islands government.
"An initial assessment team was deployed to Solomon Islands earlier this week to evaluate the situation," he said in a statement.

"Australia has sent an additional nine-person medical task force today to work with local medical authorities and help control the outbreak."
Senator Carr said there had been three deaths and more than 2000 suspected or proven cases of dengue fever across the Solomons since the outbreak began, with 276 cases reported in the past five days.
Senator Carr said the team comprised doctors, nurses and public health experts drawn from state medical services and led by a senior AusAID response manager.
As well, a 10-member medical task force would remain on standby to deploy at short notice if needed.
Senator Carr said the Solomon Islands Ministry of Health had been working hard to respond to the outbreak, which started in January.
He said Australian support would provide much needed relief to local medical staff, while maintaining patient care and treatment.
"There are serious concerns that a spread of the outbreak to the provinces will be very difficult to manage without further support," he said.
