Australia to host European Tour openers

The Ladies European Tour has announced Australia will host the first four tournaments of its 2018 season.

Australia is to host the first four events of the 2018 Ladies European Tour (LET) season following the success of last year's opener at the Women's Victorian Open.

The Victorian Open is currently the only professional event in the world where men and women compete on the same courses concurrently for the same money, and will once again kick off the season at 13th Beach Golf Links in Barwon Heads from February 1.

It will be followed by the Canberra Classic to be held at the Royal Canberra Golf Club from February 9.

Two further tournaments will be held in northern NSW following the Women's Australian Open at Kooyonga on February 15-18 with Bonville and Coffs Harbour golf clubs to host the Australian Ladies Classic and the Women's NSW Open respectively.

"We are delighted to co-sanction the Oates Vic Open for the second consecutive year and to strengthen our partnership with the Australian Ladies Professional Golf Tour through three additional co-sanctioned tournaments," said the LET's chairman Mark Lichtenhein.

"Australia is known for supporting women in sport and getting behind major sporting events and we could not think of a better place to start 2018."
