Australia v India second Test snapshot

A snapshot of day three of the second Test between Australia and India at Perth Stadium.

AUSTRALIA V INDIA SECOND TEST SNAPSHOT:

STATE OF PLAY: Australia 326 and 4-132; India 283. Australia hold a 175-run lead at stumps on day three at Perth Stadium

MAN OF THE DAY: Nathan Lyon. Australia needed someone to stand up to ensure they snared a first-innings lead. Lyon was that man, snaring 5-67 off 34.5 overs to give Australia a 43-run advantage. It is the seventh time Lyon has taken five wickets or more against India in Tests, drawing him level with Sri Lankan great Muttiah Muralitharan

KEY MOMENT: Catching controversy. Virat Kohli was looking the goods as he moved to 123. But his innings ended when Peter Handscomb took a sharp catch at second slip. Kohli wasn't sure the ball had carried, and replays were inconclusive. But the general consensus was Handscomb had managed to just get his fingers under the ball, and Kohli was given his marching orders

STAT OF THE DAY: 6 - The amount of Test centuries Virat Kohli has scored in Australia. Sachin Tendulkar (6) is the only other Indian batsman who has made as many

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "I think he did manage to get his fingers underneath the ball ... (but) some part of the ball was probably touching the ground." - Mike Hussey talks about how the wide space between Handscomb's fingers meant the ball might have been touching the grass as the catch was taken.
