Australian centre Ben Jacobs has retired from professional rugby.

The 34-year-old began his career at the NSW Waratahs (2004-08) and also played for the Western Force (2013) and Japanese side Kyuden Voltex.

In England, he spent a season at Saracens in 2008-09 and had two spells at Wasps, where he made more than 80 appearances for the Premiership club.

Announcing the decision, Wasps director of rugby Dai Young told the official club website: "Ben has been a key figure within Wasps' squad during his two stints with the club and, as a senior member of the team, he has been a great influence within this group on and off the field.

"Ben has made a big contribution to Wasps over the past few seasons as we've worked our way up the table and we wish him the very best for the future."
