Australian Copts pray for followers overseas

The Coptic Orthodox Church in Australia has celebrated Easter amid fear for its followers in the Middle East and north Africa.

The Coptic Orthodox Church has celebrated Easter over the weekend amidst fear for its followers in the Middle East and north Africa.

 

The Head of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Melbourne, Bishop Suriel, has just returned from Cairo, where he met with families of of 21 Coptic Christians beheaded in Libya a month ago.

 

Bishop Suriel says he offered them spiritual and financial support from Australia.

 

Bishop Suriel told Van Nguyen it is a good time to remember forgiveness is more powerful than any violence or hate.
