Australia's top diplomat to Fiji is due to touch down in Melbourne later tonight after being expelled over a bitter diplomatic row.
Sarah Roberts has left Fiji with her family after Australia was accused of meddling in Fijian affairs by seeking to stymie a regional meeting.
Diplomats from other countries visited Ms Roberts in the Australian compound in Suva before she left and according to the fijilive website, high commission staff also gathered for the farewell.
Ms Roberts is the second Australian diplomatic chief to be thrown out of the country in nine months as the two countries argue over Fiji's return to democracy.
