A van attack against people outside a London mosque was "a cowardly act" aimed at dividing Muslims and non-Muslims, the Australian National Imams Council (ANIC) says.
The attack happened shortly after midnight on Monday near Finsbury Park Mosque where one man died and another 10 people were injured.
Police have arrested a 48-year-old man and are treating the attack as a terror incident.
In a statement late on Monday ANIC said it strongly condemned "the vile and evil attack" on Muslim worshippers" during Ramadan.
"This cowardly act is aimed at disuniting the Muslim and the non-Muslim
community," it said.
"ANIC calls upon all Muslims and non-Muslims to stand united against any form of violence and attempts to cause disunity."
The council said terrorism did not belong to any religion or faith and urged those affected by the attack to display calmness and refrain from violence.
