Australian man dies in Laos

An Australian man, believed to be from Melbourne, has died in the popular backpacker destination of Laos in a suspected drink spiking incident.

A Melbourne man has died after his drink was reportedly spiked in Laos.

The man aged in his 20s died at the weekend and his friend required hospital treatment, News Corp reports.

A Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade spokeswoman says it is providing consular assistance to the family of an Australian man who died in Laos.
