Steve Smith expects Australia's one-day international team to come under selection pressure after slumping to an emphatic series defeat in India.
With the domestic one-day competition under way, Smith is hopeful some answers may lie there after his side went down 4-1 following Sunday's seven wicket loss.
"Some guys are back playing in the domestic one-day competition at the moment and there's probably some guys there that are going to put some pressure on the guys that are here," Smith said.
"Obviously our results haven't been good enough and we want guys to perform consistently.
"We'll have a good look at the one-day comp back home and hopefully a few guys jump out of the pack and get some really big runs and bowl really well."
Glenn Maxwell was dropped for the final two matches of the series after making 58 across the first three games, dismissed by spinners on each occasion.
Shaun Marsh has made a blistering start to the one-day tournament for Western Australia, blasting 132 not out and 88 to propel the Warriors to victories in their first two matches.
Matthew Wade was also dropped in India only to be reinstated as wicketkeeper in Bangalore and Nagpur, with Peter Handscomb playing as a specialist batsman.
Travis Head, who was earmarked to fill the No. 4 spot, failed to make a half-century in all five games with his best score of 42 coming in the final match in Nagpur.
While the bowling was more positive for Australia, leg-spinner Adam Zampa had a tough series against some of the world's finest players of slow bowling.
Fast bowlers Nathan Coulter-Nile, Pat Cummins and Kane Richardson all performed strongly in tough conditions.
The series loss in India comes less than two months before the Ashes.
But Smith isn't looking that far ahead though with three T20 internationals against India kicking off on Saturday in Ranchi.
"We're going to focus on that and when that's done we'll take care of preparation for the Ashes," Smith said.
