World golf No.1 Jason Day is heading back to Australia in November and the trip could include an Australian Open showdown with world No.2 Jordan Spieth.
Speaking in the US, Day confirmed he would defend his 2013 World Cup title at Melbourne's Kingston Heath course from November 24-27 - when he is hoping to again team with Adam Scott.
Day qualifies for the World Cup as the defending individual champion from the 2013 edition, an honour which also allows him to select his national team partner for the teams event.
It was widely assumed Day would return for the World Cup, but he also let slip that playing the Australian Open at Royal Sydney a week earlier - where young American star Spieth is a confirmed starter for a third straight year - was also on his radar.
"I'm planning on playing the World Cup with Adam Scott," Day said.
"I think we'd be a great team for the World Cup.
"We won the World Cup last time in Melbourne together (2013) and I'm thinking about playing the Australian Open as well."
The trip Down Under would complete a hectic schedule for Day, who skipped the last Australian golf summer to stay in the US for the birth of his second child.
While he is yet to make a final decision on his participation at the Rio Olympics in August, Day will be busy over the back half of the year - a run which includes the final two majors in the British Open and US PGA Championship.
"Play three weeks in a row and then a week off, and the Olympics, and then a week off," Day said.
"(Then) Three weeks in a row for the FedEx (playoffs), then got the Tour Championship. It's hard."
