Tributes are being paid to Australian race car legend and prominent businessman Robert "Bob" Jane after his death at the age of 88.
Mr Jane died late on Friday night surrounded by his family in Melbourne, after a prolonged battle with prostate cancer.
Mr Jane's children - Courtney, Charlotte and Robert - issued a statement confirming their father's death.
"It was our privilege to have had him as our dad, whom we loved and cherished. We will miss him deeply and he will forever be in our hearts," the statement said.
"Whilst dad was an Australian icon and champion of the community, most importantly to us he was our loving dad."
Mr Jane was a four-time winner of the Armstrong 500, which became the famous Bathurst 1000.
He was inducted into the Australian V8 Hall of Fame in 2000.
The race car legend is also prominently known as the founder of Bob Jane T-Marts tyre chain. He opened his first store in Melbourne in 1965 and expanded the chain nationwide.
Supercar Xtra Magazine passed on its condolences.
Other tributes soon followed.
Arrangements are yet to be finalised for Mr Jane's funeral.
