Australian soldier charged over child porn

A soldier has been charged with producing and sharing child porn after he was arrested at a Victorian army base.

An Australian Army soldier has been arrested at a Victorian defence base and charged with producing and sharing child porn.

The 30-year-old Queensland man was arrested on Friday at the Australian Defence Force's Latchford Barracks in Bandiana, near Wodonga.

Detectives from the Joint Anti Child Exploitation Team, working with Queensland Police, arrested him as part of an ongoing investigation.

The Department of Defence said it is aware a soldier was arrested in Victoria, but said it would be "inappropriate to provide further comment at this time".

He was charged with soliciting, producing and transmitting child pornography and remanded to appear at Wodonga Magistrates Court on July 24.
