FIVE AUSTRALIANS WILL CONTEST THE 2017 US OPEN:

SMALL CONTINGENT:- Five Australians will tee it up at Erin Hills, the smallest Down Under contingent since 2001 when only three qualified (Peter Lonard, Robert Allenby and Stuart Appleby)

BEST CHANCE - Jason Day. Although he is yet to win in 2017, the world No.3 has a super record in his six US Open appearances: five top-10s including runner-up finishes in 2011 and 2013.

US OPEN FORM OF AUSTRALIANS - Jason Day (six starts, three top-fives, five top-10s); Adam Scott (15 starts, one top-five, two top-10s), Marc Leishman (five starts, 0 top-10s), Nick Flanagan (one start, 0 top-10s); Wade Ormsby (major championship debut)

AUSTRALIAN PAST WINNERS - Geoff Ogilvy (2006); David Graham (1981)

AUSTRALIAN TRIVIA: Geoff Ogilvy was the last US Open champion to win without a sub-par round and the last without a score in the 60s.

COURSE FACTS: Erin Hills is a 7,100-metre course in Erin, Wisconsin hosting its maiden major championship 11 years after opening. It will be the first par-72 host of the US Open since Pebble Beach in 1992.
