Australians set for European Tour card

Australian golfers Nick Cullen and Dimi Papadatos look set to earn European Tour Cards by sitting well within the top 25 of a qualifying event in Spain.

Australian golfer Nick Cullen is well on his way to securing a spot on the European Tour for 2016.

The 31-year-old currently sits in a two-way tie for fifth, two shots off the pace, at the halfway mark of the Final Qualifying Stage for the European Tour at the PGA Catalunya Resort.

The top 25 finishers at the completion of the six-round tournament automatically qualify for a 2016 European Tour Card.

The 31-year-old shot to the lead on Saturday after firing a nine-under 61 in the first round, before dropping to fifth on Sunday when he shot a three-over 73.

He recovered on Monday to hit a four-under 66.

Fellow Australian Dimi Papadatos is also in line to claim a card, sitting tied for ninth, four shots off the lead, but importantly three clear of those outside the top 25.

Meanwhile, Australians Jason Schrivener (five-under, tied 39th), Daniel Gaunt (three-under, tied 55th) and Scott Arnold (two-under, tied 64th) also remain in the hunt.
