Australia's Soli Bailey has edged through to the World Surf League's Cascais Pro quarter finals in Portugal.
The NSW surfer notched up a score of 13.70 to narrowly beat out Brazil's Miguel Pupo (13.43) at the backup site of Praia do Guincho on Thursday.
With Jack Freestone, Mitchel Coleborn and Connor O'Leary suffering defeats in their respective round-of-16 heats, Bailey remains the only Australian in contention at the event.
