A baby boy has been mauled by the family dog while he was in his mother's lap in his home in southwestern NSW.
The nine-month-old suffered severe head and facial injuries on Wednesday evening when the retriever attacked him.
Police believe the injuries are not life-threatening.
The baby was treated at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital before being airlifted to Royal North Shore Hospital overnight.
The dog was euthanased at the family's request.
