Sydney Trains staff have been reunited with the baby they helped to deliver at a train station in Sydney's west.

Cecilia went into labour at Auburn train station just after noon on September 29 and appealed to Sydney Trains staff for help.

Auburn station duty manager Matthew Ward said Cecilia, who does not want her surname published, was in a lot of pain and it soon became clear she was in labour.

"I called our security team who put me through to the triple zero operator and we had a three-way conversation," he said.

"They asked if we had a female staff member...and our cleaner Jenny Thompson helped out."

Mr Ward said the staff took Cecilia into the station office and got her comfortable as her contractions got quicker and quicker.

WIth the help of the triple zero operator, he helped to guide her through the first stages of her labour while they waited for the ambulance to arrive.

"I was measuring the contractions for the emergency operator and they were coming pretty quickly and they said 'This baby is coming soon'," he said.

"We didn't have a lot of room so the only place was the office floor.

"Just as the baby was crowning, I heard the sirens [of the ambulance]. They turned up at the critical moment."

He said the paramedics delivered the baby while the staff waited nervously outside.

"When the baby was first born it didn't cry and we were in the doorway and a bit nervous," Mr Ward said.

But the little girl, named Alofamoni Lagi, arrived safely and is now doing well.

"It was a first for me, being involved in a delivery," Mr Ward said.

"A group of us from Sydney Trains went to see her a couple of days later in Auburn Hospital to check on how she was doing."

NSW Transport Minister Andrew Constance visited the station on Thursday to meet Cecilia and her daughter and to congratulate the staff.

"Alofamoni Lagi is a beautiful little girl and I’m sure everyone at Sydney Trains is very proud of the team at Auburn Station for the part they played helping during the labour," he said.

Sydney Trains chief executive Howard Collins said he was proud of the staff’s quick response to help Cecilia.

“The staff at Auburn station did a tremendous job under extreme pressure, and it’s great they are all here today to welcome Cecilia and Alofamoni Lagi back to Auburn station,” he said.
