Baby boy hit by car at NSW school

An 18-month-old boy is in hospital after he was struck by a car at a school in Bathurst.

A toddler has serious injuries after he was hit by a car at a school in the NSW Central Tablelands.

Police say initial information suggests the 18-month-old boy was hit by a reversing Commodore wagon in Bathurst around 5pm on Thursday.

He has been airlifted to the Children's Hospital at Westmead while the car's 38-year-old female driver was taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

The incident comes the day after another toddler was accidentally run over by his father in northern NSW.

Police say the 44-year-old father was repairing a car at his Kyogle residence on Wednesday afternoon when he tried to clutch-start it.

The vehicle rolled backwards over his 19-month-old son, who has since been transferred to Gold Coast University Hospital, police say.
