A two-month-old baby girl has died after a stabbing incident in a Brisbane home that also put three members of the same family in hospital.

The girl died early Wednesday evening in hospital after the afternoon incident in the southern suburb of Parkinson.

The baby's grandmother and grandfather - both visiting Brisbane from China - and mother were all also seriously injured in the violent incident.

The grandparents, aged in their 50s, are both in critical condition in Brisbane's Princess Alexandra Hospital, while the baby's 28-year-old mother is serious but stable.

Police said on Wednesday night that they were called to a Watheroo Place home around 2.30pm after the baby's mother fled from there to a house nearby in Mapleton Court to seek help.

They found the baby girl at the Watheroo Place house and she was treated at the scene before being taken to the Lady Cilento Hospital where she died.

Her grandmother was found unconscious in the house with stab wounds and the grandfather was found in the front yard with multiple stab wounds.

Police officers are staying with the three injured adults at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

"The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation which will include detectives speaking with the three adults when their medical conditions allow," police said in a statement.

Earlier, Acting Inspector Sean McKay told reporters at the scene police didn't know exactly how or why the stabbing happened.

"At this stage, four people have been injured (and) we're not prepared to say if someone's a suspect," he said.

"Suffice to say we're not looking for anyone else at the moment."

Helicopter footage taken on Wednesday afternoon appeared to show forensic officers standing beside a blood-spattered driveway.
