Former England Test spinner Monty Panesar has urged the Australian media to stop what he believes is unjustifiably harsh criticism of the vanquished Ashes visitors.
Sydney newspaper the Daily Telegraph labelled England "pathetic Poms" after the side crumbled to a 3-0 deficit to Australia with a Test loss in Perth this week.
The comment was proliferated in the UK by The Guardian, which described the Australian press as "relatively restrained" in its criticism of the tourists.
But 50-Test player Panesar was unhappy about the "pathetic" label.
"Aussie media at it again, calls us "Pathetic Poms"," Panesar tweeted.

"(England cricket) men are a great deal more than that.
"It's sad to see over-the-top criticism."
Panesar, who has worked with the Australian team as a spin bowling consultant and played grade cricket in Sydney, also expressed support for embattled England captain Joe Root.
The tourists will attempt to prevent a series whitewash with the fourth Test in Melbourne beginning on Boxing Day.
