Department stores David Jones has copped racist and derogatory abuse online after they named former Sydney Swans player Adam Goodes as one of their brand ambassadors.
The store's Facebook page was flooded with comments from people who were strongly against the announcement.
Many of the commenters were "booing" Goodes' appointment and declaring they would never shop in David Jones again.
However other commenters welcomed the announcement and criticised those who spoke out against Goodes and the department store.
In a statement from David Jones, a spokesperson did not address the negative comments.

"David Jones is proud to have Adam Goodes, a powerful and inspirational Australian, join its family of ambassadors," the statement said.
"Adam features in our recently launched campaign #itsinyou and will also work with David Jones on its Reconciliation Action Plan and its broader Corporate Social Responsibility program, which we call the Good Business Journey.
"We have received significant positive feedback from our staff, customers, vendors and other stakeholders regarding Adam’s appointment and our latest brand campaign."
Goodes announced his retirement from AFL in September not long after he returned to the sport after a break.
He stepped away from the game for several weeks following racist and consistent booing from AFL crowds when he touched the ball during games.
