Bad weather hampers search for Qld trawler

Poor weather has affected the recovery operation of a fishing trawler that sank off the Queensland coast with the loss of six men.

Bad weather has hampered the search for a fishing trawler that sank off the central Queensland coast with only one survivor.

Six fisherman were lost when the fishing vessel, Dianne, sank in rough seas near the town of 1770 in October.

Queensland police had hoped the trawler would be brought to the surface on Sunday.

The operation was described as "very weather dependent", by Inspector Darren Somerville.

"They're still rigging the vessel to try and turn it the right way up, after that they need to re-rig it and try and bring it to the surface," Inspector Somerville said according to Fairfax Media.

Only one of the crew, Ruben McDornan, survived the October 16 disaster.

Bodies of skipper Ben Leahy, 45, and Adam Hoffman, 32 were found by police divers but four others remain missing.
