West Indian import Samuel Badree is set for a belated Brisbane Heat debut after being named in the side for Saturday night's Big Bash League (BBL) opener against the Melbourne Renegades at the Gabba.

The legspinner was set to play for the Heat last season only to suffer a shoulder injury days before the tournament began, but was included on Friday in the team alongside fellow Caribbean recruit Lendl Simmons and interstate pacemen Josh Lalor and Andrew Fekete.

Saturday's clash will be the first time the Heat have played the Renegades at the Gabba in the BBL's five-year history.
