Support for the NSW government has plunged, leaving the coalition and Labor neck-and-neck almost 18 months after the decisive 2015 election win by Premier Mike Baird, according to a new poll.
The state coalition government has suffered a swing against it of about four percentage points compared to the 2015 result, according to the ReachTEL poll published by Fairfax Media.
The poll follows a series of scandals in the NSW health system, with the state government also under continued pressure over the compulsory acquisition of properties for infrastructure projects including the WestConnex motorway.
Support between the coalition and Labor is now split 50-50 on a two-party preferred basis, using preference flows from the last election.

It would not be enough for Labor to claim outright victory in 2019 if applied as a uniform swing, but could bring the opposition close to forming a minority government with crossbench support.
Mr Baird's personal support has also slumped, with a narrow majority of NSW voters - 51 per cent to 49 per cent - saying Opposition Leader Luke Foley would make a better premier.
The coalition's primary vote was recorded at 39.4 per cent with Labor's at 34.9 per cent, the Greens at 8 per cent, others at 9.6 per cent and 8.1 per cent undecided.
Meanwhile, the poll also showed majority support for the Baird government's decision to ban the NSW greyhound racing industry from July 1 next year.
