NSW Premier Mike Baird has laughed off the alleged bugging of a meeting room used by the All Blacks at their Sydney hotel ahead of Saturday night's Rugby Championships Test against Australia.

"I think that's awesome - if that gives us a chance to beat the All Blacks I'm all for it," Mr Baird told reporters in Sydney on Saturday, before bursting into laughter.

New Zealand Rugby Union chief Steve Tew says the bug was found during a routine security check on Monday and says police have been called in to investigate.
