A 14-year-old Australian boy, arrested in Bali for alleged drug possession, is set to learn his fate today, with a judge to deliver his verdict and reveal if the teenager will spend Christmas behind bars.
The teenager's trial will resume this morning (about 9am AEDT) in a makeshift hearing room at the Denpasar District Court, where a large media contingent is also expected for the sentencing.
Prosecutors have demanded the boy, from Morisset Park near Newcastle in NSW, serve a custodial sentence of three months in relation to a charge of use of an illegal drug.

The teenager has been in custody since he was arrested on October 4, allegedly in possession of 3.6 grams of marijuana.
If the judge accepts the prosecution's sentence request, it will mean the boy could remain locked up in Bali until January 4.
The boy's lawyer says he remains hopeful his client will receive a sentence of two months at the most, meaning that with time already served he'd be returned to Australia within 10 days.
