Bali prosecutors have called for an Indonesian man who hit and killed an Australian woman with his motorbike to be jailed for 18 months, saying he had consumed alcohol before the incident.
Bernadette O'Connor was crossing the road in front of Peninsula Beach Resort at the popular tourist spot South Kuta in Bali about 1.30am on July 31 when she was knocked down by a motorbike.
The driver, 23-year-old Benafentura Nggeo, saw Ms O'Connor was about to cross the street.
"The defendant signalled with a beam light, but didn't slow down or hit the breaks," Gede Wiraguna Wiradarma told Denpasar Court on Wednesday.
"The defendant doesn't have driving license. It's true that the defendant had some alcoholic drinks before the accident."

He said there was no justification for what Nggeo had done and that he should face 18 months in prison, minus the time already spent in custody.
Nggeo's lawyer Yulius Benyamin Seran said his client did not slow down and conceded he had consumed alcohol at a friend's party in Denpasar just before the accident.
However, they submitted there was also no streetlight at the location of the accident.
He then submitted the sentence of Australian man Joshua Terelinck for the judges to consider.
Terelinck was sentenced to two months and 15 days jail in December last year over a Bali motorcycle crash that claimed a local man's life.
Nggeo will return to court next week.
