Left-arm spinner Shakib Al Hasan has become the first Bangladesh bowler to claim 200 Test wickets as the hosts sealed a comprehensive 64-run victory against West Indies on day three of their first Test.
The 31-year-old Shakib returned figures of 2-30 and also became the quickest Test player to 3000 runs and 200 wickets on Saturday, achieving the feat in his 54th Test to eclipse England allrounder Ian Botham, who reached it in 55 Tests.
But his fellow left-arm spinner Taijul Islam did the most damage, taking 6-33, his fourth five-for in the last six innings, to wrap up the visitors' second innings for 139 while they were chasing 204.
Sunil Ambris scored 43, and Jomel Warrican made a fluent 41, as the West Indies duo shared a 63-run partnership for the ninth wicket to take their team from 8-75 to 9-138.
After Bangladesh were bowled out for 125 in their second innings, adding 70 to its overnight 5-55, the spinners took charge.
Shakib dismissed opener Kieran Powell - stumped for a duck - to reach his 200th wicket.
"I wouldn't have felt good to reach 200 wickets if we didn't manage to win," said Shakib.
"We knew it would not be a high-scoring game once we saw the wicket on the first day."
Warrican and Ambris resisted before Mehidy Hasan had Warrican caught by Shakib at midwicket to end the increasingly dangerous partnership.
Taijul fittingly wrapped up West Indies' innings, removing Ambris to give Bangladesh a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
"We didn't play as well as we should or could," said West Indies stand-in skipper Kraigg Brathwaite said.
"We lost wickets too quickly."
Bangladesh were dismissed for 324 in their first innings and took a 78-run lead by bowling the tourists out for 246.
