The heads of Australia's big four banks will face a further grilling from a federal parliamentary committee, backing up a similar review last year.

The National Australia Bank boss will appear before the House of Representatives economic committee on March 3, followed by his counterparts from the Commonwealth Bank and ANZ on March 7 and Westpac on March 8.

"These hearings provide an important mechanism to hold the banking sector to account before the parliament," committee chair and Liberal MP David Coleman said in a statement on Tuesday.
