Another bomb threat has forced the evacuation of the Barangaroo construction site in Sydney.

Workers were ordered off the area about 9am following the threat, site developer Lend Lease said.

"We have been working closely with the NSW Police since they notified us of the bomb threat this morning," a spokeswoman said.

"As safety is our priority, we have taken the precautionary step of evacuating the site."

Police say the operation is ongoing.

The bomb threat is the latest disruption to hit one of the nation's largest construction sites.

A basement fire in March brought Sydney traffic to a standstill as buildings surrounding the harbourside site were evacuated.

A bomb scare in June sparked an evacuation and the CFMEU was banned in late July by the Fair Work Commission from industrial action at Barangaroo for three months after 1000 workers went on strike.
